Kelly Clarkson filled in for reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson when Keith Urban took the stage on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week.

Urban released a duet with Wilson, “GO HOME W U,” on his 11th studio record. HIGH made its debut in September. The album also featured “Straight Line,” “Messed Up As Me,” “Chuck Taylors,” “Heart Like A Hometown” and more. Urban previously shared that “GO HOME W U” was “not meant to be a duet,” but he quickly thought to add the Whirlwind star’s voice to the song, and she agreed.

“I wrote ‘GO HOME W U’ in 2020 with BRELANDSam (Sumser) and Sean (Small),” Urban said via his record label earlier this year. “We had a blast writing it. It started out as a late-night drum loop, I grabbed a bass guitar and started playing a simple recurring bass line. Before we knew it, we were writing a chorus that could be sung by any drunk person in any bar anywhere in the world. …A friend of mine suggested the idea of making the song a duet and I immediately thought of Lainey. Besides the fact that I love her voice, she’s got the swagger and attitude that fit so well with the song.”

Urban, who's kicking off a world tour in 2025, said in a video shared on Instagram in June that he “already had Lainey on my radar… because I love her voice and her vibe.” The duo performed their collaboration together that month at CMA Fest in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee, and footage from the performance appeared in the music video in August.

Clarkson hosted Urban as a guest on her show, and talked about a “crazy moment” he experienced on tour, his reaction to a “BS” rumor, and more. Watch Clarkson and Urban perform “GO HOME W U” on The Kelly Clarkson Show here:
